Website Improvements

The National Records of Scotland (formerly General Register Office for Scotland) web team constantly tries to update and improve this website in order to make it more accessible to its customers.

By listening to feedback and meeting directly with customers we have made the following improvements.

Geography

The Geography section of the website has been restructured and updated. Postcode Extract files have been made available for download and some older pages have been updated or removed. Further updates are planned over the next few months.

Beyond 2011

A brand new section about our Beyond 2011 programme, looking at alternatives to the traditional census, has been published. It includes papers, background information and details of the various options being considered.

Statistics

We have redeveloped the Statistics section of our website which we hope will make it easier for users to find the information and data they are looking for.

Stats at a Glance
This new section has been added to allow users to quickly and easily find summary data and reports on topics of interest, without the need to dig down into our more detailed publications. It includes the Registrar General's Annual Review, the High Level Summary of Demographic Trends and Council Area Profile factsheets.

Statistics by Theme
Our new themed pages group together publications and other relevant information on a range of subjects including, Households, Population, Migration and Vital Events.

About our Statistics

As part of the redevelopment this new section has been created to provide background information on the work we do.
