The Scottish Government, Victoria Quay, Edinburgh
Population and household statistics are increasingly important to help inform policies and planning in central and local government, and the third sector. National Records of Scotland (NRS) are continuously working to improve the relevance, accuracy and timeliness of their demographic statistics so that they are fit for purpose for the 21st Century. This meeting brought together a range of speakers to describe how administrative sources are being used to inform population statistics, quality assure the Census and contribute to potential alternatives to the Census. It also gathered views to help shape the requirements for any future demographic system.
