Independent Healthy Ageing – showcasing research and identifying issues to inform public policy and develop the evidence base – 13 November 2008
The UK’s population is growing and becoming increasingly older. In 2007 there were about 10 million people aged 65 or over, but by 2031 this number is projected to be as many as 16 million. Population ageing will bring a new set of challenges to society and to public policy in terms of ensuring financial, family, social and health resources for the older population.
This conference brought together UK academics, policy makers and analysts from across the public, private and voluntary sectors, as well as older people. The purpose of this event was to showcase existing research relating to independent healthy ageing and to inform the development and delivery of public policy.
