Life Expectancy in Other Special Areas

These sections contain life expectancy figures for various special areas. The figures were constructed using population and death data built up from data zone level. When interpreting life expectancy estimates it is important to bear in mind confidence intervals, particularly when focusing on areas with small populations.

Please note: Scotland level life expectancy within these publications are a by-product of the process used to calculate smaller area life expectancy. They will differ from the definitive Scotland life expectancy figures produced by the Office for National Statistics (ONS), available in table 1 and table 2 on the Scottish Interim Life Tables page. This is because slightly different processes are used to calculate the figures, ONS create interim life tables using single year of age whereas we create abridged life tables using grouped ages.
