Many different organisations, businesses, and individuals need accurate information on which to base decisions about investing money in new or improved facilities. For example, the government in Scotland spends more than £1000 every second of every day on providing hospitals, roads, schools and many other services including support for industry and transport. To make the best use of its £32 billion budget the Scottish Government must know in great detail where this money is needed.
