Connecting with different communities has always been an essential part of a successful Census. We are currently running a number of Community Liaison initiatives throughout Scotland to promote the 2006 Census Test and, ultimately, the Census in 2011.
A number of councils in Scotland have appointed a Census Liaison Officer to help GROS promote and run the Census in their areas. The initial meeting of Census Liaison Officers, Census Regional Managers and GROS was held on 13th October 2005 in Crieff. For an account of this meeting please read Minutes of Council Census Liaison Officers meeting held at Crieff Hydro Hotel (published 1 November 2005)(28 Kb pdf file).
Two Glasgow school children who won a local competition will have their questions included in the 2006 Census Test. The news release 'Children help shape Scotland's next Census' (20 September 2005) will tell you more.
