As an ongoing part of the consultation, GROS meet with a number of people and organisations with specialist knowledge. These meetings help us understand the needs of both Census users and hard to count groups. This page describes some of the groups we have met with to date, and groups we hope to meet with in the future. If you think you can contribute to these discussions in the future, please email us at 'Census Consultation - 2011' using our contact form.
We met with representatives of deaf and deafblind organisations, on 31 May 2007 to discuss current plans for Census topics/ questions and community engagement, for 2011 Census.
Notes of the points raised at the meeting are available below:

Scottish Government studies and independent surveys have shown that Gypsy/Travellers are heavily underenumerated in the Census. We meet regulary with Gypsy/Travellers and their representatives to develop methodologies and questions that will enumerate them properly in the coming Census.
We have met with representatives from all the major disability organisations working in Scotland to find out how we might improve our methods of communication and questions for people with long term impairments.
In the run up to 2011 we hope to meet with other underenumerated groups such as young males, minority ethnic communities and asylum seekers.
