The 2006 Census Test took place on the 23rd of April. The test is being used to evaluate possible new Census questions and assess different ways of making the Census form easier to complete, particularly for groups of people who do not find it easy to complete forms. It will also help us improve the processing of the information on the forms, quality checks and the production of the Census results.
This is a review of the 2006 Census test operation in Scotland which includes recommendations that will be taken forward to the Census rehearsal in 2009 and the full Census in 2011. The 2006 Census Test Evaluation information is divided into 5 sections.
The test was held in parts of Glasgow City, West Dunbartonshire, Highland, Stirling, Perth & Kinross and Argyll & Bute Council areas. About 52,000 households were asked to complete a Census Test form.
