The previous Census section was launched in December 2004. Its aim was to provide information on the 2001 Census from its background through to its results.
It is our policy to continually review how we present our statistical material to customers. In 2007 as part of that review we started to look at the 2001 Census material. We found that the structure of the 2001 census section had become complicated and the section was difficult to navigate.
We formed a small working group to look at the 2001 Census structure and to plan it's redesign. We sought advice on the material and identified the areas that were out of date or already held on our Scottish Census Results OnLine (SCROL) website. Where necessary we have applied Plain English principles to the material to make it easier to read.
The new layout has been designed to make it easier for you to find the material you are looking for. The 2001 Census section now breaks into four main topics;
